What you need

  • 500g lamb mince
  • 2 heaping Tbsp dry bulgur, soaked in 1 cup water until soft (about 30 minutes), then drained
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cracked pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • Pita pockets to serve
  • 1/2 cup good mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup mint sauce
  • Handful chopped up crunchy cos lettuce

Here's how it's done

  1. For the meatballs, mix everything together with your hands. Form the mixture into ovals about the size and thickness of small hamburger patties.
  2. On a medium heat with a good splash of olive oil, fry the patties for about four to five minutes on each side.
  3. Mix mayonnaise and mint sauce together and serve in toasted pita pockets with crunchy cos lettuce.
