Little Haloumi Grillas Recipe
A tasty meat-free recipe for all!

Sliders are small, soft rolls with endless taste possibilities. Can’t find them? No problem – baps will do just fine, encasing the tender haloumi and salad filling.

What you need

  • 8 slider buns or small baps
  • Quality mayonnaise
  • Your fave spicy tomato or fruit relish
  • Lettuce leaves or salad greens
  • 1 punnet cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 200g Mainland Special Reserve Haloumi, cut into 8 slices
  • Olive oil or spray oil

Here's how it's done

  1. Slice slider buns in half horizontally, leaving a little attached as a hinge.
  2. Spread mayo on the base and relish in the lid, then layer on lettuce, tomato and avo.
  3. Heat a ridged pan or barbecue grill that’s lightly sprayed or brushed with olive oil then grill the haloumi, turning once, until stripy and soft-ish (two to three minutes each side).
  4. Add a slice to each slider. Serve ‘em up. Watch them disappear.

Serving Suggestions

To get those lovely grill marks on the haloumi, try brushing them with oil, and it also means it won’t stick to the grill. Try adding chorizo or grilled red pepper slices for a flavour twist.
